The
social movement I wish to fight for is Let’s Move. Let’s move is a social
movement that was founded by Michelle Obama which looks to promote fitness and
healthy eating in children around the world. The main exigence of Let’s Move is
to “solve the problem of obesity within a generation.” Childhood obesity rates
have increased rapidly over the years and it’s time for us to take a stand.
I am
going to be making a Prezi as my artifact. At first my Prezi will just include
facts about childhood obesity. Then I will go into the rhetorical goals of
prescribing the courses of action. By stating the facts about childhood obesity
I think it will help to prescribe the what. I will also prescribe the who,
which will be the parents of children in today’s society. Finally I will
prescribe the how, by showing how the audience can design a healthy meal plan
and by showing how the audience can achieve a more active lifestyle. I think
this rhetorical goal is the most important, because it is all about motivating
and inspiring people to do something and that ultimately is what the social
movement Let’s Move is about.
The langue
strategies and tactics I might rely on are storytelling and framing. I feel
storytelling might complement my persuasive function, because if families were
to see other families success stories of them conquering obesity it would send
a huge message to the people who are considering the lifestyle change. I also feel framing might complement my
persuasive function, because it will be key to frame statistics and facts in
order to give the public an understanding of the issue of childhood obesity.
Overall,
I am very excited to be covering this social movement, because I feel it is
very interesting and I think childhood obesity is something that needs to stop.
