The social movement I will be focusing on and fighting against for my final project will be the social media’s effect on eating disorders. I find the issue to be a very current movement that reaches out to all part of the world.

I will be making a Prezi power point that will show case many parts of the movement. Through my Prezi, I will create slides that influence the perception of the past through examples of models in earlier decades and showing how life was influenced when there wasn’t much social media. I will then switch over to perception of the present and what society is like now with so much access to media and what society claims is “beautiful”.  My goal is to show how society and access to social media causes people, specifically young girls, to think they must look a certain way to be considered beautiful. I want to prove that before all of this social media, women normally thought more positively on themselves.  I will also focus on perception of the future by showing what the world would be like if society changed what the idea of  “beautiful” is and that society would change for the better if people weren’t put under so much pressure by the media to look like a clone from the latest magazines. I would also focus on project looking to help stop this issue and companies who are standing up for women and fighting to prove that they’re are beautiful the way they are.

I will be using the languaging strategy of Identification. I will introduce women who seem like people you would see in your everyday lives. Through storytelling, I would share their stories and help understand how they reached the places they reached. I will also use celebrities as symbols of people who have resulted to eating disorders because of the pressure put on them by social media.
