The movement I will be advocating for in my final project will be the anti-bullying movement. This is a movement that is nationwide and affects people of all ages. This movement has had a lot of success in spreading awareness and punishing those who bully. I would create something that will further the cause. For my research paper I chose to analyze different posters and their significance in changing peoples perceptions of the movement. For my final project I will be doing the same by creating a poster that could be used in an anti-bullying rally o a protest. My goal is to have my poster send a powerful message to those who see it. The rhetorical goal in making a poster like this would be to show the reality of bullying and to prescribe a course of action to end bullying altogether. Often people who create videos or signs promoting anti-bullying ways use sympathy to gain supporters. It also seems that most posters nowadays target younger people but do not seem to resonate with them. I want to create a poster that would do just that by shocking kids into the reality of what they are doing. This could be a bit more of controversial tactic but could also make more of an impact.
Some language strategies that I could use in the poster is framing and some slogans. Framing the way bullies see the victim could perhaps change their minds about hurting them. Visual rhetoric can be framed so that the message I want understood can be delivered while also creating more feedback, unlike some other forms of rhetoric. Additionally, the use of slogans in posters have proven very persuasive in other social movement throughout the decades, so I would like to put a slogan in my poster as well. A slogan can become the phrase of the movement and since they are short, almost anyone can comprehend them.
